One-pipe heating system

Example of calculation:

Solution to:

  • pressure loss when using a radiator with valve including Vekolux fitting

Given:

  • heat output of the circuit: Q = 4380 W
  • cooling of water: t1 - t2 = 20 K (70/50 °C)
  • share of radiator: mot 50%
  • heat capacity of water: c = 1,163 Wh/kg.K

Solution:

  • weight flow in the circuit:
mR =Q

c . (t1 - t2)
=4380

1,163 . 20
= 188 kg/h

pressure loss of radiator with valve including Vekolux fitting:

Δptotal = 22 mbar
weight flow in radiator: mot = mR . 0,5 = 188 . 0,5 = 94 kg/h

*) For setting at 35% close Vekolux and then open by turning it round 3.5 times. Maximum opening corresponds to 50% share of radiator.
